Rollingstone

location: here

This is a small vacation park near Townsville. It is on the beach front and we so much wanted to jump directly into the sea after so much time being inland.
But .... we were told about the "stingers" - this is the name for a few different kinds of dangerous jelly fish - mainly the most dangerous one - the box jelly fish.
From November to May the northern shores of the east coast are infested by these "meduzot".
It is very simple - if it's tentacles touch your stomach, you die from a heart attack from all the pain after about 20 minutes. So simply you don't go to swim on the beach. There are net enclosures for kids to swim in that don't allow the jelly fish to get in - but that isn't much fun.
We heard so many stories about the jelly fish - some ppl say it's the end of the season and they just go swimming saying it's more likely to die on a car accident to be touched by a box jelly fish this time of year and others always go in with a lycra suit that covers your body.

Any way we spent our time in the great pool they had there and went for day trips to the Paluma mountain range near by and swam in the rivers [no crocodiles in these ;)].
