Cairns - Kuranda - Port Douglas - Mossman

location: here

Cairns (pronounced 'canes' like sugar canes) is the capital of tourism of the Australian tropics.
We went to a 5 star caravan park (again BIG4 chain park) - they had just about everything there and all was top class - we stayed there around 6 days and went out for day trips around the area and up in the table lands (the mountain range ~1000m high surrounding the flat lands of the beaches) and did a cruise to the great barrier reef too.

At a playground near a big lake in the table lands - Tinaroo lake:

Playing rummy cube under our caravan annex at night - meytar is pretty good at it.

stopping for a swim at mossman gorge and feeding the many fish there - we did a small walking trek too in the rain forest :

At the butterfly farm museum in Kuranda up in the mountains.
the museum had 2000 butterflies flying around of many different kinds and colors.
they are attracted to white and pink so they sat on Nitai's hat.

We went to a coffee factory in Mareeba and had a tour + coffee, chocolate and liquor tastings.
It was great and tammy really enjoyed all the coffees that were available for tastings - i likes the liquors and chocolates (they has a chili chocolate too !!)
The kids of course are compensated by getting a large milk shake with ice cream because they don't like coffee.

On the road in the table lands

Looking at Tinaroo lake from above -

Tinaroo lake again -

Carins had a "Lagoon" on their esplanade which is a huge artificial swimming pool free and open for the public - it was really very nice and meytar learned to dive there - this is Eran and Meytar underwater making faces at each other -

This is on the side of the lagoon intaking some sun with "googisa" -

Kuranda again - looking at the great "Baron falls" (this is the dry season - it get much more water on the wet season) -

Butterflies at the museum -
