Charters Towers - country music festival

location: here

From Richmond we continued to Mt. Isa, a copper steel and iron industry town, we stayed there one day and continued to Charters Towers.

We arrived to this small town called Charters Towers during the time of the annual country music festival.
They held a small market in the show grounds area and we bought some locally made honey and cakes and later on there were shows on stage were the locals went and sang all kinds of country folk songs and told camp fire stories - it was very nice.
We especially enjoyed the song called "shame and scandal in the family" :)

The day after, they had a big parade for choosing the queen of the festival
so it was like a beauty contest of the local girls all dress up and hair done.
There were many trucks carrying school children with different themes and pretty ladies (country singers) on the front hoods of cars.

We spent the morning in the local library which had a nice kids games corner and both the kids played there. As usual, we are amazed how much they put into their public libraries (they have a whole kid toys section with carpets and they also rent audio books and movie DVDs.

As the evening came we went to the open air cinema while Nitay slept in the car we saw
the new movie of Mr. bean (good for meytar - not much talking) and later on we saw an Eddy Murphy comedy - it was a double feature.
